This cold weather is eating at my brain and I’ve been sitting here thinking of what to write about. So I’m just going to go with all things warm and cozy to give us distraction from the latest visit from the infamous Polar Vortex of 2014.
Spring Home and Garden Show – this starts tomorrow, Thursday February 27 and runs until Sunday March 2nd at the Careport Centre here in Hamilton. There will be BBQ competitions – Meat Ventures will be taking part with yours truly serving as second in command, lots of outdoor products and demos to help us think about the wonderful warm seasons to come!
Sew Hungry – This award winning street event has Food Trucks lined up on Ottawa Street in Hamilton to feed the masses. And what started out as a small group is now having to AUDITION trucks to land a spot. They have way more trucks wanting in as they have spots for – how quickly things change from when they were first planning this event, trying to get trucks out! Mark it in your calendars, because May 2nd is going to be delicious!
Beer – no, not just beer in general, but rather a new outdoor festival that’s coming to Hamilton in August of this year – The Hamilton Beer Festival will be held on August 8 & 9 in Gage Park, and proceeds of the festival going back to the Hamilton Community – it doesn’t get better than that! Can’t wait to see how it develops!
Ice Cream – Ok, completely random, but just think, soon it’s going to be warm enough to enjoy delicious ice cream, and the folks at Ben and Jerry’s have decided to launch some amazing new products that involve straight up “cores” of chocolate, caramel and peanut butter goodness! And even better, locally you can get Rudy’s Ice Pops at the different events around town, as well as at The Burnt Tongue on Cannon. Mmmmm local, homemade, delicious ice treats!
For Sale! – Ok, we’ll add some Real Estate content to this to make me feel better. You want to move into a new place in time to enjoy the summer? Guess what? That means you have to get started now! Let’s run some numbers here, say, you have a few things to do around your house to get it ready for listing, so you get the for sale sign up mid March, based on an average listing to get lots of market exposure, you’ve got an accepted offer towards the end of April. That offer has a 60 or 90 day closing. That puts you at end of June or July, and here you thought you had lots of time – regardless of how cold it is, it is going to be March this weekend, so the Spring Real Estate market is in full effect.
I’m feeling a little bit warmer as I’m about to head out into the cold dark night….
