Being from Toronto the city is getting way too expensive and congested, nothing affordable if your looking to pursue buying a home and starting a business like we are.
Where do you live?
East Hamilton/ Stoney Creek. We had searched all over the city of Hamilton and found our home because it checked off things on our want list in a home
What resources were helpful to you in making your decision to move here?
Realtor website and then our agent and personal time driving around and looking at properties and neighbourhoods.
What resources do you WISH you’d had access to that would have helped?
None come to mind, the internet and real estate agents help alot especially if they live in the city you’re looking at.
Many neighbourhoods have a lot to offer, you may have to give a bit of love and attention but Hamilton is worth it
What things surprised you the most about Hamilton? Good & Bad
Hamilton has many different resources that allow it to completely fullfil the city’s needs. Progressive restaurant scene mixed with
theatre and arts. Many festivals that supply ample entertainment for the city and brings in many from other towns and cities. A solid start at gentrifying the city has begun and many parts of the city changing almost over night.
What advice do you have for anyone considering a move to Hamilton?
Do a bit of research. Drive around and see where everything is: hospitals, GO station, access to downtown, upper and lower Hamilton areas. Many neighbourhoods have a lot to offer, you may have to give a bit of love and attention but Hamilton is worth it and we believe to be the next city to have some growth in it and still keep its charm.
What are your favourite places and things to do around the city?
Favourite lunch restaurant would be the Burnt Tongue on Cannon and James street. Cheese Shoppe on Locke. Not everyone knows this I believe but Hamilton has over a hundred waterfalls surrounding the city….it’s a must see and you can drive and see many of them in one afternoon.
Of all the things going on Hamilton these days – what are you most excited about?
The changing of downtown. New buildings and condos, gentrifying the parks, new restaurants and shops it’s very exciting to see more life brought back into downtown Hamilton.
Anything else you’d add? Here’s your chance!
We are very happy to have moved here and be given a chance to not only get a really nice home in a great neighbourhood, but to have the opportunity to start a Food truck business and be able to feed off the new growth of the city . To be able to see the growth in other parts of the city and their businesses and see how homes are changing. The charm Hamilton has makes for an inviting place where the potential is outstanding!! Thank you for letting us have a chance to have a voice and tell a bit of our story.
