Well, that’s a wrap on summer! While it’s always sad to see it go, cooler weather and a ramp up of local events make fall one of the best times to experience the City. Here are some of the best things to do and see this autumn.
What says fall more than apple picking? Bring the kids or go with some friends to make some of that sweet Instagram gold. There are quite a few pick-your-own orchards around Hamilton like Carluke, Myers and Luna. Don’t love labouring for your fruits? Check out Bennett’s for picked apples, cider and their famous cider donuts.
Summer beer gets a lot of hype (deservedly), but is there anything better than Oktoberfest season for beer lovers? In September, Hamilton’s pubs and restaurants start switching over their tap lists from refreshing lagers to darker seasonal ales. You’ll find great local craft and imported beers at spots like The Ship and Brux House, or you can go right to the source and stop by one of the many breweries in town.
One of the best parts about living in Hamilton is that you are never more than 15 minutes away from a forest and in the fall months they are at their most spectacular. Dundas Peak might be the first place to come to mind, but skip the crowds and try out some other areas of the City to admire the leaves: Eramosa Karst, the Red Hill Valley, the Rail Trail, or Dundas Valley Conservation Area, to name a few.

Head down to the Tim Horton’s Field in the Gibson Neighbourhood to see the Ticats play a home game – an essential Hamilton experience every fall. Make sure to grab a pint and a bite to eat at the huge outdoor bar. The hometown energy at these games can’t be beat.

Check out one of the country’s longest running agricultural fairs – the Ancaster Fair has been a community mainstay since 1850. Hosted at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, you’ll find livestock exhibits, shows, crafts, baking and canning competitions, food and craft concessions, and live entertainment.
September 25 & 26, 2021.
