Kat Ellis

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Kat & I’m the Chef of Maisy’s Pearl in the Barton Village! I have worked in Hamilton’s Hospitality Industry for 20-years now & started out working in kitchens as a teenager! I’m a Mom to 4 wonderful kids ages 15, 13, 8, & 3. I also have a passion for art & feel very fortunate to live in a City with such an abundance of artistic talent!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in the Homeside Neighbourhood, on Cope Street.

Why Hamilton?
I think Hamilton is the best City in the world!

What neighbourhood are you living in and why did you choose it?

I’m living in the Riverside Neighbourhood of Lower Stoney Creek. I chose this area because it is nearby family & my support system. My kids are still growing so this was super important to me!

What is the biggest change you’ve seen in the city in the last decade?

Recognition. I feel as though Hamilton is finally getting its time to shine! We have a vibrant & beautiful City that I feel in the last decade has been showcased in a broader way than we previously experienced.

If  someone was visiting Hamilton for the first time, what would be the top three places you would recommend them checking out?

Hamilton is best described as a feeling. A place where there is such an abundance of beautiful cultures meshing together that it creates a palpable feeling & environment that has to be experienced to be understood.
